I had big expectations for the 4th of July weekend! I always do, and it always proves to be a perfect weekend...and this year was no different!
We spent the weekend with a ton of C's friends from college celebrating a sweet couples wedding, then headed back to ATL for the real 4th of July festivities.
This was the traffic leaving on Friday for Charlotte. Calm down Atlanta. Sheesh!
I love living in Georgia, but let me tell you a little story...there's not a Bojangles close enough to make me happy! I'm talking at least a 20 minute drive. While I love Bojangles with all of my heart, driving that far just isn't feasible. However, there were at least 10 different Bonjangles near our hotel and you better believe we ate our very first meal there. Bless you Charlotte. It was a much needed kid's chicken supreme meal...with honey mustard :) nom. nom. nom.
I can't say enough about this sweet married couple. They are high school sweethearts and that couple that you can just tell has so much love between each other.
The wedding was PERFECT. I told the bride I was going to be stealing ideas from her :) but, really...everything from the sermon at the wedding, which was the most heart felt I've ever heard to the mashed potato bar at the reception...yes, a mashed potato bar! I heart the south.
Isn't this cake gorgeous?
The center pieces were my fav. I'm a sucker for hydrangeas.
Perfect grooms cake. Swoon!
Once we made it back from Charlotte it was full of red, white and blue festivities!
First thing first...we had to make our traditional fruit pizza! If you haven't had a chance to make this yet, trust me, it's worth your time! So delicious. It's everything right mixed in to one!
Just can't get enough.
We spent the whole day dodging rain. We went to the gym that morning, with plans to spend the afternoon at the pool, but while we were at the grocery store gathering hot dogs and potato salad, the rain started.
We did end up pool side for a few hours in the afternoon which we were so thankful for. It was a perfect day after the rain and not too hot......but the rain wasn't over.
We went to watch fireworks at a place nearby and as soon as we got there the rain was back. We rushed back home. Not that I don't mind being in the rain, but it was an hour until the fireworks were supposed to start and it was lightning...and I'm a huge scaredy cat.
We got back to the apt and planned on heading up to the top of the parking deck to watch the show. Ended up that the show was delayed 30 minutes so I was very glad we had decided to head on back home when we did.
We posted up in our car and I got a good patriotic Pandora station going and we enjoyed the fireworks :)
It was actually a really great view! We ended up getting out of the car and watching the show, just because they really aren't fireworks without the BIG BOOM effect. I loved them so much. It was amazing to see the fireworks with lightning striking in the back ground. Mother Nature added a nice little touch last night.
We might have ended the 4th of July drenched, but I was a very happy girl. It was a perfect weekend and lived up to being one of my favorite days of the year!
Not only was it a great 4th weekend, but the work week is 4 days this week! WOO HOO! Now that's something to be really excited about.
Hope everyone had a great 4th!
