Moving On Up

    I got a job.

I have insurance...a 401k...a salary...and every other little thing that comes along with a big girl job!!

My exact reaction when I was offered the job.

Truth is, I've had a job for 3 months now...but it was an "associate" program. Which basically means that for the past 3 months I've been doing my darndest to prove to these people that they should keep me!

While I'm not sure that I did much proving, they did decide that they want to hang on to me!!! I am just so very thankful for this opportunity, and feeling an overwhelming amount of gratitude to not only have gotten a job, but one that I am just absolutely in love with!

So, starting tomorrow...on September 1st of 2011, I will officially be a PR/Social Media Coordinator :) WOO HOO!

I'm going to be looking back at this blog in 10 years and wonder just why in the world I was so excited about a job?! ha!

So here's a cheers...cheers to all of us!
May we always feel forever young
and always find happiness in the ways we spend our days :)

Fonuts

I'm calling it now..the next big food revolution. Fonuts! As in faux-nuts. Doughnuts that are baked, not fried, and with gluten free options! The shop just opened in LA (Los Angeles, not Louisiana..boo) and the pastry chef uses different methods of steaming and baking at high heat to replicate the light and fluffy texture of a doughnut -- without frying! I want to meet these geniuses and I've got to try these fonuts ASAP! See article HERE.  Happy Wednesday! xoxo, Julie

Halloween Parade Floats

It's 61 days until Halloween and Keri needs some trick-or-treating parade float ideas for her kids! I love this! If you going to trick-or-treat in South Louisiana, you need to do it in style. We take our floats seriously. It's amazing what you can do with cardboard boxes, paper mache, felt, wood, nails, spray paint glue and tape! You can scale a float down to kid wagon-size, or make it mardi gras size! A good article on making floats is HERE. See some creative ones below! Happy Wednesday! xoxo, Julie

NYC Picnic Party!

Hi friends! Check out this NYC picnic party featured on Celebrations at Home by event planner Sarah with Dreamers Joy Events & Design out on the East Coast! How talented is she??!! Look at this background! This is so adorable for a shower, birthday party, etc. I'm loving the to-go box sandwiches and the wooden utensils. Couldn't you see this out by the Mississippi River levy, LSU lakes or out at Audubon Park in New Orleans? I could! Thanks so much for sharing your talent Sarah! Happy Tuesday! xoxo, Julie

Football Wardrobe

Football season is just around the corner (WOO HOO)...which begs the question, what do I wear to football games?

My problem is, for the past 4 years, every Saturday in the fall my outfit has been chosen for me. Every Saturday I have known exactly what I had to wear.......sequins.

Now that my sequin days are over and football season is kicking off this weekend, it's time to go shopping! I will make it back to Clemson for a few games, so I need your help with some cute purple and orange outfits!!

Do you have a favorite place to shop for your Football weekend clothing necessities?

    Oh, please do share :)

Sliders!

My friend Melissa hosted last month's Pokeno night and served us the most amazing sliders! YAY MELISSA! (Think petite hamburgers). I love sliders! Not only are they cute and simple to make, but so good for portion control! And...you don't feel bad going back for seconds and thirds! Plus you can give your guests several fun options and be the hostess with the mostest. Lucy's Retired Surfers Bar serves some great ones if you want take-out! See some fun sliders below! Happy Monday! xoxo, Julie
